Seattle Trip
Last weekend I traveled to Seattle to attend the ALA Midwinter Conference. It was my first time to attend this one as I was recently appointed to an ALA committee - the Instructional Technology Committee, a sub-committee in the Instruction Section of ACRL. To read about my experiences at the conference, check out our new professional development blog.

Another fabulous January Saturday
What are the odds for another sunny, warm Saturday in January? I took advantage and went on my first group ride in years. I went with a group who meets at Paceline Bicycles every Saturday morning. There were about 25-30 people and we rode for 30 miles. The route was hilly, but I'm glad to report I hung in and enjoyed it greatly. I planned to meet up with Sherry Crane, who I've ridden with several times. It was good to catch up with her and enjoy the weather and the exercise. Roughly, here's the route: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=640139. At the ride's end, Van, at Paceline, provided snacks and drinks.....A very enjoyable Saturday's outing!

January Boating
It's not often during the first week in January to have a warm, sunny day suited for trying out new boats. Fred just got a new canoe and Ron has a new fishing kayak. I got to play with my waterproof camera while I kayaked 6.5 miles in my *old* kayak.
